WHAT AIM DO IN SUNDERLAND.
In 2003 AIM opened a local support group in Sunderland for parents and carers living with autism.
AIM is members of the autism sub group which is part of the Children’s Strategic Development Group.
AIM attends meetings and feed into the Sunderland and Young People’s Plan.
AIM is a member of the North East Regional Autism Consortium, South of Tyne Autism Services and Development Group
AIM is a member of the Sunderland Parent and Carers Forum.
AIM holds a monthly meeting in Washington ran by Sheila Plant and Esther Pringle.
AIM Sunderland supports parents in many different ways.
We offer support and information to parents who are having problems with their children in schools and with educational issues.
We offer a support and information to parents wishing to access social care.
We offer support and information with Disability Living Allowance Forms.
We act as advocates for parents.
We liaise between parents and service providers.
We offer an online support and information service.
We sometimes even manage to solve a problem that has everyone else stumped.
